Ohio Jurisprudence Assessment Module - PT/PTA

Troubleshooting logging in for the Ohio Jurisprudence Assessment Module:

About the Ohio JAM:

  • PT Practice Act - resource material for the JAM!
  • The Physical Therapy Section of the Ohio OTPTAT Board enacted a rule change in May 2019 to require a jurisprudence assessment module (JAM) as part of continuing education for renewal of physical therapist and physical therapist assistant licenses. The JAM is required for PTA license renewals between November 1, 2022-January 31, 2023. The JAM is a permanent requirement for the biannual renewal for both PTs and PTAs.
  • It is the Board’s mission to protect the public, and part of doing so is to ensure that all licensees have a working knowledge of the laws and rules governing physical therapy in the state of Ohio. This JAM will give all physical therapists and physical therapist assistants the opportunity to review Ohio law at least once every two years.
  • The module is an online learning tool throughout which you will have access to the laws and rules of the PT practice act. It allows the Board to target questions to enhance licensees’ knowledge of the law regarding common infractions and areas that are important to the Board, such as duty to report and sexual boundaries.
  • If you would like to review the practice act prior to starting the JAM, follow this link.
  • The cost of the JAM is only $48 and it counts for two continuing education hours.
  • Your JAM score will be sent directly to the OTPTAT Board. You will not need to show us proof of completion.
  • Note: this requirement will count as part of each licensee’s current continuing education requirement of 24 hours for physical therapists and 12 hours for physical therapist assistants.
  • As a reminder, first time renewals do not have a continuing education requirement and do not have to complete the JAM for this renewal.
